COLLEZIONE (Collection) is the one-man show that the MACT/CACT is dedicating, in its own spaces, to the American naturalised German artist JON CAMPBELL (1982).

The works presented here date from 2006 to 2022 and can be identified as belonging thoroughly to the tradition of painting, in which the themes of portraiture, of interiors and of landscapes are dominant, if not actually fundamental, for the artist. His research, which at times also touches on and involves his existential and personal, almost intimate, experience, is a quest for the importance of the theme even more than for a pictorial style or language.

While Campbell experienced a first phase dating back to some five years after the turn of the century, when he was busy refining his take on the issues related to identity, almost feeling the need for a civic, social and at times avant-gardist commitment in his artistic production, he later broke free of this, moving towards a more naturalistic style, more readily associable with the tradition of painting.

In the middle of the last decade, Jon Campbell then started working in the area of music, recording tracks of his own on the label he created in 2019; 7lb Records (https://www.7lb.studio/)
